Doug Sheehan has died at the age of 75.

The actor was best known for his role as Joe Kelly on the daytime soap opera 'General Hospital' in the late 1970s and early 1980s but passed away towards the end of June in Wyoming, it was announced on Monday (08.07.24) evening.

A post on the Kane Funeral Home website reads: "After being able to call Big Horn our home, where we dearly loved. Douglas Sheehan, 75 of Big Horn WY. , passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024 with his loving wife at his side.

"Services are pending at this time.

"Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with local arrangements."

Around the time he started his screen career with small roles in 'Charlie's Angels' and 'Victor/Victoria' opposite Dame Julie Andrews, he tied the knot with Cate Abert and they remained married for 43 years until his death.

He also played the leading role of Brian Harper on the classic sitcom 'Day by Day' opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus for a total of 33 episodes in 1988.

Doug also starred as Ben Gibson throughout four seasons of the prime-time drama 'Knots Landing' from 1983 to 1987 and towards the end of the 1990s, he played Mel Horowitz on the TV series 'Clueless', which was based on the 1995 film of the same name that starred Alicia Silverstone.

He also played Edward Spellman, the father of the title character, on 'Sabrina, the Teenage Witch' around the same time, acting opposite Melissa Joan Hart, Caroline Rhea and Beth Broderick in the magical sitcom.

His final on-screen appearance came opposite Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth in an early episode of 'What I Like About You' in 2003.
