Ghosts is getting a special Red Nose Day sketch airing as part of its telethon this week, and the gang are being joined by one of the most iconic pop stars of all time: Kylie Minogue!

The 'In Your Eyes' hitmaker will visit Button House in the sketch, alongside her agent (played by Motherland's Tanya Moodie), to see if it would make a suitable concert venue, where the regular cast of ghosts will get the shock of their lives.

"I'm a big fan of Ghosts so it was truly exciting to be there," Kylie said. "The entire cast were already in costume when I met them, so it was already funny!

"As the show is filmed on location, much of what you see on screen is actually there so it's like stepping right into the home of Ghosts. I sat in Julian’s chess chair, ha!

"The entire team were so amazing and made me feel very welcome. It was a beautiful and surreal day. I was so moved to be part of Comic Relief and the incredible work they do."

Star and co-creator Mathew Baynton added: "Kylie was so lovely and so game for the sketch, an absolute dream. In fact, I'm already wondering if I literally dreamt the whole thing. If we didn't have the footage, it would certainly seem more plausible."

After the fourth series of Ghosts became the biggest comedy of the year for the BBC, a fifth series has been commissioned to air later this year.

"We’ve had much fun in the writers room and are hugely excited by the new stories we have to tell and further secrets we get to reveal," the creative team said.

"We've been getting back into practice walking through walls and can’t wait to start shooting again in the new year."

All four series of Ghosts, including the Christmas specials, as well as the US version, are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer. The Red Nose Day telethon begins at 7pm this Friday (March 17) on BBC One.
