Gigi Hadid’s Met Gala 2024 Look Required an Entire Posse of Helpers

Even after getting a major hint on Instagram, nothing could have prepared us for the full force of Gigi Hadid’s Met Gala 2024 look, designed by Thom Browne.
The supermodel’s stunner of a gown was mostly white, with structured ruffles trimmed in black lining. In keeping with the 2024 gala’s Garden of Time dress code, the off-the-shoulder dress was adorned with three-dimensional yellow roses and green leaves. Maneuvering that much dress was no joke, which is why Hadid was joined by a posse of black-suited helpers to arrange her voluminous train, hold her purse, and help her up the Met’s famous stairs without incident.
Hadid took a classic glam approach to her makeup and hair, with a bold red lip and pin curls in her blonde bob. She finished with a simple diamond necklace and drop earrings. The back of the gown showed off the corset lacing, and Browne’s signature red, white, and blue striped tag.
In an interview with Vogue, Hadid said that the gown was made with over two million beads and took 5,000 hours of labor. “He wanted it to be worthy of a museum,” the model said of Thom Browne’s vision.
On May 6, the 28-year-old supermodel shared a photo of a Thom Browne clothing tag to her Instagram Stories, which was inscribed with the words “Thom Browne. Gigi Hadid. Met Gala 2024.” Can you imagine Hadid’s bestie Taylor Swift ever being so transparent? I can’t!
In previous years, Gigi Hadid’s Met Gala outfits have trended toward more maximalist, feminine styles. There was the plunging Diane von Furstenberg dress she wore to her first gala in 2015, and the stained-glass-inspired Versace gown she wore back in 2018. Even her more daring looks—like the Michael Kors bodysuit and feathered cape she wore to the 2019 affair, or her black chiffon Givenchy number from last year’s Karl Lagerfeld–inspired Gala—have erred on the side of femme.
But what can we say—she has the range!
