‘Glee’ Stars Reunite for Naya Rivera Song, Released Three Years After Her Death

This year’s annual Snixxmas Charity event honoring Naya Rivera features a previously unreleased song by the late “Glee” star.

“Prayer for the Broken,” first recorded by Rivera in 2012, now includes background vocals by her “Glee” co-stars Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley, Heather Morris, Vanessa Lengies and Ashley Fink. “Prayer for the Broken” was written by Lindy Robbins and Isaac Hasson.

Proceeds from the song will benefit Alexandria House, which provides safe and supportive housing for women and children on their journey from emergency shelter to economic stability and permanent housing.

“Prayer for the Broken” can be streamed, downloaded or purchased via music platforms. Direct donations to Alexandria House can be made at alexandriahouse.org.

Rivera was 33 years old when she died after drowning on July 8, 2020, in Lake Piru in Ventura County while boating with her son Josey Hollis Dorsey. Dorsey, who was four years old at the time, was found sleeping alone on the boat. Rivera’s body was discovered five days later. Her family settled a wrongful death suit against Ventura County in March 2022.

Snixxmas, launched in 2020, has raised almost $250,000 for Alexandria House. Previous editions included a livestream event with Riley, McHale, Ushkowitz, Morris, Lengies, Harry Shum Jr., Chris Colfer, Dot-Marie Jones, Jayma Mays, Romy Rosemont and Jessalyn Gilsig.

“Glee” premiered on Fox in 2009 and ran for six seasons before ending in 2015. The Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series, created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, became a cultural phenomenon that included companion albums, young adult novels and concert tours.
