Searchlight Pictures’ Bansheees led all films with eight nominations this morning, followed by A24’s breakout indie Everything Everywhere All at Once with six, and Paramount’s Babylon and Universal’s Steven Spielberg-directed The Fabelmans with five. Searchlight leads the studio count with 12 total noms (the company also produced Hulu’s limited series The Dropout, which scored two noms in the TV categories), followed by A24 with 10.
Check out the full nominations scorecards below.
The Globes return to the air in 2023 after a year away amid an overhaul at the HFPA, which underwent reforms and shakeups after questionable practices surrounding its governing and membership were discovered. The group boosted the racial and ethnic diversity of their membership and also killed the practice of accepting gifts and started a hotline to report malfeasance.
One notable omission in today’s noms is Tom Cruise, the star of the Top Gun sequel that helped bring audiences back to theaters. Cruise personally returned his previous Globes trophies after hearing about the problems at the HFPA.
Brendan Fraser, star of The Whale, did get a nom today despite saying he would not attend the ceremony. In a recent article, he referenced his 2018 revelation that he had been groped by former HFPA president Philip Berk at a 2003 Beverly Hills luncheon. (Berk denied the charge.)
On the TV side this morning, Abbott Elementary led all nominees with five, followed by The Crown, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Only Murders in the Building, Pam & Tommy and The White Lotus, all with four each. Nominees for best drama series include Better Call Saul, The Crown, House of the Dragon, Ozark and Severance, and Abbott Elementary, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, The Bear and Wednesday landed noms for best Musical/Comedy series.
Nominations for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture made for Television include Apple TV’s Black Bird, Netflix’s Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Hulu’s The Dropout and Pam & Tommy, and HBO Max’s The White Lotus.
