The Goods, CBC's new daytime show, adds Andrea Bain and Shahir Massoud to cast

A familiar face and an up-and-coming young Toronto chef are the latest additions to CBC-TV's upcoming lifestyle TV show, joining previously announced hosts Steven Sabados and Jessi Cruickshank.

The new hour long program, titled The Goods, is slated to debut October 3. Set to air weekday afternoons at 2 p.m. (2:30 NT), The Goods will fill the former Steven and Chris daytime slot, left open following the 2015 death of TV personality figure Chris Hyndman.

Andrea Bain, who previously appeared as a relationship and dating expert on Steven and Chris, is joining the program. A former entertainment reporter for Los Angeles-based Reelzchannel, she has more recently worked as a host for Slice and HGTV lifestyle shows.

Another new addition is accountant-turned-chef Shahir Massoud, one of the restaurateurs behind the budding Ontario restaurant chain, Levetto. Massoud has appeared enthusiastically demonstrating recipes on lifestyle programs for CTV and Rogers, including Cityline and Breakfast Television.

Both Bain and Massoud hail from Toronto, where the weekday show will be recorded.

Plans for the new show were first announced in February, with Sabados — Hyndman's partner and former co-host of CBC's popular Steven and Chris — and Cruickshank unveiled in May as two hosts of the forthcoming program.

"I could never do anything by myself or even with a co-host would be difficult, you know, because [it'd be] compared to Steven and Chris," Sabados said in May.

"This is comforting and I think that it allows you to sort of be a little freer and to sort of play with a group of people."
