Grey's Anatomy gets season 21 release date

ABC has announced the season 21 release date for Grey's Anatomy.
On Wednesday (July 10), it was revealed that the medical drama will be back on US screens on Thursday, September 26. It will follow in the UK on Disney+.
Earlier this year, ABC decided to move Grey's Anatomy from its traditional time slot of 9pm ET on Thursdays to a later 10pm slot, beginning with the season 21 premiere.
ABC will air season 8 of 9-1-1 at 8pm ET on Thursdays and producer Ryan Murphy's new drama series Doctor Odyssey — starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson — at 9pm before Grey's airs after.

The channel has also announced premiere dates for Dancing with the Stars — Tuesday, September 17 at 8pm ET — and Abbott Elementary — Wednesday, October 9 at 9.30pm ET.
Grey's Anatomy producers have agreed to a shorter season 21, with 18 episodes to be produced in total. There have been reports that several of the long-time cast members have agreed to miss a few episodes each as a cost-cutting measure.
Jake Borelli and Midori Francis will be returning only on a short-term basis this autumn to write out their characters, before exiting Grey's Anatomy as series regulars.
However, there is some very exciting news for Grey's fans, as Ellen Pompeo is being lined up to appear in at least seven episodes of season 21 — if not more.

Pompeo exited as a series regular following Grey's Anatomy season 19, but has continued to make guest appearances and narrate each new episode.
Grey's Anatomy season 21 will air premiere on Thursday, September 26 at 10pm ET on ABC in the US. Previous seasons are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
