Harbour Grace seniors celebrate Seniors Month

If you like a game of crib, the Otterbury Schoolhouse in Harbour Grace is the place to be on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons this month.

The Earhart 50 Plus Club is the group hosting the open house socials, which are open to the public.

And you don’t have to play crib, or anything else; you can just stop by for a cup of tea and to take a load off.

"I mention crib because I'm already skunked by one of the ladies of the 50 Plus," said councillor Gordon Stone at last week’s public council meeting. “And the treasurer is also skunked. So, anyone who wants to come down and find out if they're skunked or a champion, have a game of cards, have a cup of tea, it's a welcoming event."

Meanwhile, this Thursday, the club had plans to use federal New Horizons funds to serve free meals to participants 50 years of age and over to celebrate Seniors Month. There were 120 openings for the event. The meals are at three locations: Kay's Restaurant, the Courthouse Restaurant, and the Hotel Harbour Grace.
