Hurricane Delta Causes Large Waves to Crash into Cayman Islands

Hurricane Delta strengthened to a Category 4 system on October 6 as it hurtled towards Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula and brought dangerous surf conditions to the Cayman Islands.

Local media reported that while the island was spared the worst of the storm, beaches and coastal areas were expected to face severe wave action.

The National Hurricane Center warned of life-threatening storm surges and destructive winds for the northern part of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.
