A nine-year-old Ontario boy has gotten his 15 minutes of fame after his script was performed live on ‘The Tonight Show’.

Leo Chicoine attends École Publique Saint-Joseph in Tiny Township, ON, reports the Midland Mirror. Leo’s parents are fans of ‘The Tonight Show’ and one night in late December, host Jimmy Fallon put out a call for short scripts written by kids. The skits would be read on air by Fallon and actor Matthew McConaughey. There were only two caveats: the author had to be under the age of 10 and the script had to be titled ‘Gold’ — the name of McConaughey’s latest film.

“I heard the title would be ‘Gold’ and I started writing,” Leo told the Mirror. “I write a lot.”

No one from the show notified the family that Leo’s script had been chosen. Fortunately, his parents happened to be watching when Fallon read out Leo’s name and introduced his script’s characters: a mansion-dwelling duck named Quacky and his next door neighbour, Elliot.

A YouTube clip of McConaughey and Fallon reading Leo’s script shows the two stars cracking up at the Canadian kid’s zingers. The clip has been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

“Well played Leo,” McConaughey says to the camera after reading the script. “Well written.”

Leo has apparently been playing it pretty cool, despite his sudden stardom. According to CTV News, he’s still focused on his main life goal: becoming a hockey player.
