Jose Fernandes jailed for sneaking into Canada
A Portuguese man who has repeatedly tried to enter Canada illegally, has been sentenced to a total of 442 days in jail.
José Fernandes, 52, used a fake passport when he came to St. John's on a cruise ship in September.
In provincial court on Friday, he pleaded guilty to unlawfully using a document to enter or remain in Canada, and using a forged passport.
He had been deported before after previous attempts to enter the country illegally.
