Kate Middleton’s Trooping the Colour Outfits Through the Years: Seeing Pink in Alexander McQueen and More Looks
Since joining the royal family when she married Prince William in April 2011, Kate Middleton attends Trooping the Colour every year along with other distinguished members of the British royal family. Over time, Kate has come into her own when it comes to an approach to the royal wardrobe, allowing the public to witness Kate’s style evolution through the years.
Although she’s been absent from the public eye in 2024, the Princess of Wales announced on Friday that she would attend this year’s Trooping the Colour parade on Saturday amid her ongoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.

2011
2011 marked Kate Middleton’s first Trooping the Colour appearance following her marriage to Prince William in April of that year. For the occasion, Kate opted for black-and-white dressing, wearing a white coat dress by Alexander McQueen and coordinating with a black hat.
2014
During the 2014 Trooping the Colour celebrations, Kate opted for another look by one of her go-to designers. The royal wore a brocade Alexander McQueen ensemble with a coordinated hat with floral embellishments by Jane Taylor.
2017
Kate was seeing pink when she fashioned this monochrome look for Trooping the Colour in 2017. The royal once again favored Alexander McQueen, styling the long-sleeve dress with a cinched waist with a fascinator by Jane Taylor.
2019
Kate favored a sleeker look in 2019, wearing a buttery yellow Alexander McQueen ensemble with a coordinated hat with floral appliqués by Philip Treacy.

2023
After two years without the Trooping the Colour ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kate attended the parade in a green look. The dress was designed by Andrew Gn and featured glimmering blue jewels on the two breast pockets and running down the center of the ensemble. Kate also wore a matching hat by Philip Treacy, and accessorized with sapphire and diamond earrings that once belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
