This was the first time Middleton was seen wearing a mask at a public event.
Kate Middleton made an appearance at a Sheffield baby bank in South Yorkshire, England yesterday to help deliver supplies to families in need, and fans couldn’t help but notice the new accessory she wore for the visit: a floral face mask made by UK children’s brand Amaia.
While unpacking boxes and speaking with family members supported by the Baby Basics charity organization, the Duchess of Cambridge kept the face mask on in an effort to protect those around her.

Middleton wore the reusable face mask, as well as a pair of gloves, for most of the visit. While she was mask-free when moving boxes filled with diapers or wipes, she made sure to wear the mask when speaking with volunteers at the baby bank, as well as a family impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, per the Daily Mail.
This visit is part of her initiative to work with 19 British brands and retailers to donate more than 10,000 new baby essentials, such as diapers and clothes, to about 40 baby banks throughout the UK, according to a post on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Instagram.
This appearance marks the first time Middleton was seen wearing a mask at a public event. England only recently implemented a mandatory face mask mandate on July 24, according to the BBC. Anyone caught without a mask will be subject to a £100 ($131) fine.
