"P.S. it might be time to start cleaning your own room.”

Kelly Clarkson surprised Alex Wolff with one extra special delivery on her daytime talk show.

While visiting on Wednesday, the A Quiet Place: Day One star recalled a “traumatic” incident where his mom accidentally threw away a handwritten note that he’d received from Christopher Nolan while cleaning his room. So, naturally, Clarkson pulled a few strings to right the injustice posthaste.

“I worked with Chris and it was an amazing experience and he wrote me this really nice letter and he said, ‘Thank you so much for coming and playing on set,’” Wolff, who starred as Luis Alvarez in Nolan’s Oppenheimer, recalled. “After I got it, I flew home and I went to my parents’ house and I left it in a drawer. And I’ll preface all of this by saying my mom and I are best friends and I forgive her for this, but… she did a spring clean.”

The actor clarified that he was the one to blame for the incident. “It’s my fault, ‘cause I leave it so messy,” he confessed, “but it was in a big pile of scripts and stuff and… the note is no longer. She threw it in the trash.”

But he hasn’t forgotten, either. “It was quite traumatic when she called and said, ‘Isn’t that note from Christopher Nolan so nice?’ And I just had this sinking feeling and I said, ‘Mom. Let’s FaceTime. Show me it right now, show me where it is.’ And she looked and she just goes, ‘I’ll call you back,’” he said. “She’s like, ‘I’m so sorry, I was throwing stuff out and I threw it out.”

Wolff jokingly added, “I just had to take a deep breath and say, ‘Mom, you’re no longer my mom anymore.’”

Clarkson, however, wasn’t ready for the story to end there. “We told Christopher Nolan about this situation — we really did — and he send another note, so we have another note,” she revealed, pulling out a notecard and handing it to Wolff. “You should read it!”

He appeared stunned as he took the card. “Alex, thanks for lending your great talent… to bringing Louis Alvarez back to life for Oppenheimer. It was a pleasure working with you,” he read. “With thanks and respect… P.S. it might be time to start cleaning your own room.”

He then immediately pulled Clarkson into a hug. “Thank you so much. I am so surprised,” he said through his laughter. “I am hiding this! I am locking this in a vault! This is amazing. Thank you so much, I feel like I’m gonna cry.”
