Kendall Jenner Is the First Human to Wear Her Vintage Met Gala 2024 Gown

Kendall Jenner's Met Gala 2024 look is an archival Givenchy gown that just so happened to fit her perfectly. Just supermodel things!

Jenner explained that she came across the vintage dress while doing research for an outfit that would fit this year's “The Garden of Time” dress code. She fell in love with the glittering beaded look, which features mesh cutouts at the hips and an Elizabethan-esque collar, but she noted it was highly unlikely that (1) the fashion house would have the dress available and (2) the dress would fit. As she noted, the dress was only shown on a mannequin, not a model, when it was first made, and because it's vintage, she was unable to alter it.

Lucky for her, it fit like a glove.

Paired with her long hair, pulled back in two twists, the whole vibe was giving House of the Dragon.

Like any good model, Kendall Jenner is something of a chameleon, able to embody the girl next door, the sexy bombshell, the high-fashion alien, or the Old Hollywood glamour girl, depending on the circumstance. But one style we never thought we’d see her embrace is rich Brooklyn novelist—which she did in the hours before the Gala, lounging around in slippers by The Row. Yes, the ultra-minimalist line from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

She had some fans fooled into believing that her red-carpet look would be from the high-fashion brand, but alas, that was not the case.

In the past Jenner has worn Marc Jacobs, Prada, Givenchy, Versace, La Perla, Calvin Klein, and Topshop. She’s favored figure-flattering outfits and plenty of sparkle, both on her gowns and via her jewelry.

Notably, she did not cross paths with Bad Bunny, her off-again boyfriend, who is one of this year’s cochairs (with Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, and Jennifer Lopez). A Kendall Jenner Met Gala 2024 crisis averted!

Jenner seems to have tapped into this year’s dress code as far back as January, when she wrote a reflective post on Instagram to welcome the new year. “Years pass, and they seem faster and faster,” Jenner wrote alongside pictures of herself drinking white wine on a beach next to a mansion. “Presence and time is all I can ask for. So grateful for what has past [sic], so optimistic for what’s to come. Go love on the people you hold close to your heart, and don’t waste a second ❤️.”
