King Charles and Queen Camilla are marking the approaching first anniversary of their coronation with a special reminder of the big day.

On May 1 at Buckingham Palace, the King, 75, and Queen, 76, were presented with the coronation roll, an official record of the crowning ceremony that took place on May 6, 2023.

Coronation rolls have been drawn up since the original version was created for the coronation of Edward II and Queen Isabella in 1308. The National Archives holds the majority of coronation rolls, although there are no rolls in existence for Edward III, Henry VI, Edward IV, Richard III, Henry VII, Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I, Elizabeth I and Charles I.

The Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, Antonia Romeo, was the one to present the record to the royal couple. King Charles and Queen Camilla also met heraldic artist Timothy Noad and calligrapher Stephanie Gill to hear about their roles in creating the coronation roll.

Along with the physical roll, the King and Queen will view a digital version that will be available for members of the public to view online for the first time.

Earlier this week, King Charles made his first public engagement since his cancer diagnosis was revealed in February. Along with his wife, he visited the Macmillan Cancer Centre at the University College Hospital London, where he connected with patients also undergoing treatment.

"I think he was really thrilled to be out," the Queen said at a palace reception the following day, according to the Daily Mail.

"I've been trying to hold him back," she added, nodding to how the King's work ethic has remained "wholly undiminished" despite his treatment.
