A Lamborghini Countach Once Owned By Rod Stewart Is up for Auction
Here’s another chance to buy one of Rod Stewart’s old Raging Bulls.
A beautiful 1977 Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio that belonged to the “Maggie May” singer is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer. Stewart didn’t just drive the wedge-shaped sports car a couple of times, either. It was actually in his collection for more than a quarter of a century.

No matter how you feel about the former Faces lead singer, there’s no denying that he has lived the rock star lifestyle to the fullest. During his six decades in the public eye, Stewart has amassed an impressive collection of palatial homes, museum-worthy art, and the kind of cars that most of us only dream about. When it comes to automobiles, Stewart likes them brash and fast, which is why it’s little surprise he’s so drawn to Lamborghini. In recent years, a Miura and Countach 25th Anniversary Edition once owned by rocker have all fetched large sums on the auction circuit.
Stewart bought the Countach up for auction while on tour in Australia in 1977, according to the listing. He had the right-hand-drive model shipped to Los Angeles, where he was living at the time. A few years later, the car was modified by Costa Mesa-based Albert Madikian Engineering, which outfitted the car with new front and rear spoilers, a wide-body kit, and a revised roof with removable panels. Stewart took the car with him when he moved back to England but would eventually part ways with it in 2002. Its next owner had the car converted to left-hand drive and had all the previous modifications undone. This included replacing the roof with a unit that featured the periscope-style depression that earned this model its name.
The car, which was most recently refurbished in 2022, is finished in a gleaming coat of Rosso. The head-turning hue is complimented by an interior covered in Tobacco leather upholstery. The engine is the same 3.9-liter quad-cam V-12 that the Countach left the factory with. It comes equipped with six Weber carburetors, and a twin-distributor ignition, and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Stewart’s old Countach is up for auction through Thursday afternoon. With just under a day to go, bidding has reached $520,000, which is close to the $550,000 his black Countach 25th Anniversary sold for last year.
