Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop Reunite for Mini “Gilmore Girls” Reunion: 'Ladies Who Lunch'

The actresses played the iconic mother-daughter duo of Lorelai and Emily Gilmore from 2000 to 2007, as well as in the 2016 Netflix revival of the series

Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop had a little Gilmore Girls family reunion!

On Saturday, June 29, Graham, 57, shared a photo on Instagram of herself and her former onscreen mother Bishop, 80, as they reunited for a quick selfie.

In the photo, the Parenthood actress could be seen smiling for the camera, wearing a blue jacket, a matching blue bucket hat, sunglasses and a striped tee, while Dirty Dancing alum Bishop sported a pair of shades, a black jacket and a silver necklace.

"Here’s to the ladies who lunch," Graham wrote in the caption, referencing a lyric from Stephen Sondheim's musical Company before adding the hashtag "#Kelly."

The onscreen mother-daughter duo most recently shared the screen again in Netflix's revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life in 2016. They of course originated their iconic roles as old-money Gilmore matriarch Emily and high-spirited daughter Lorelai in the CW's original series, which ran from 2000 to 2007.

Earlier this year, Bishop revealed exclusively to PEOPLE that she would be looking back at her storied career in Hollywood with a new memoir — and would be paying homage to the long-running series with the book's title: The Third Gilmore Girl.

Graham has also reflected on the beloved show in recent years. In 2021, she opened up about how Netflix was reviving interest in the series by streaming it on its platform, more than two decades after it first began airing.

"It's way more popular. It wasn't that popular [when it originally aired]," the actress told late-night host Jimmy Kimmel at the time, discussing the show's second life on Netflix. "We were on opposite Friends, no one really knew we were on. It was, like, a miracle every year we got picked up. The people who liked it, liked it, but it wasn't a big hit. It's crazy. New generations keep watching it."

"It's fun because it's different groups of people [who] are finding it and different generations. I just don't want to get to the age where I'm frightening to children, where they're like, 'Where's Lorelai? What happened?' " she added.

Although the entire Gilmore Girls crew hasn't been spotted together since the 2016 Netflix revival, two of the series' actors, Chad Michael Murray and Scott Patterson — who played Rory's prep school classmate Tristan and Lorelai's main love interest Luke, respectively, in the original series — posed for a reunion selfie together in 2022.

"It's a Luke/Tristan reunion at Sullivan's Crossing," Patterson posted on X at the time, sharing the pair's selfie. "Annual Grey vs Blonde Homecoming Event! Who u voting for?"

Just this month, series alum Keiko Agena spoke to PEOPLE about her experience playing her character Lane Kim, and shared that she had complicating feelings about coming back to reprise the role in 2016 — particularly considering that she played a Korean American character on the show, while she is Japanese American.

“The best thing is to have a Korean American writer [and a] Korean American actor,” Agena, 50, said. “I don't think that role, cast that way, would happen today. But at that time, in 2000, it was such a different time that I definitely know I wouldn't have said no or pulled myself out of that situation.”

Agena added that she still regularly keeps in touch with two Gilmore Girls cast members: John Cabrera, who played Lane’s bandmate Brian, and Sean Gunn, who played Kirk.

“There is this kind of lovely nostalgia for that time, and yet also we have years since then,” Agena said. “I [have] gone to both of their weddings. Our friendship is part Gilmore Girls and appreciation for that crazy time, and then part just like a million other things that are just like friends.”
