All the major upcoming Disney and Pixar releases in order

The Mouse House's upcoming slate includes a bevy of highly anticipated features, including sequels to beloved films and live-action adaptations of animated classics, as well as exciting new original projects across theaters and streaming at home.

From Disney Animation's Moana 2 and Pixar's next outing, Elio, to the live-action version of Lilo & Stitch on Disney+, here are all the biggest upcoming Disney titles releasing in 2024, and beyond.

Every ’90s baby who grew up with 1997’s Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella has anticipated Brandy's return as Cinderella and Paolo Montalban as King Charming. Thank goodness the Descendants universe will deliver just that. As a spin-off to the beloved Disney Channel fantasy film trilogy, this entry follows Cinderella and Charming’s child Chloe Charming (Malia Baker), as she must team up with Red (Kylie Cantrall), the Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora) daughter to go back in time and stop their parents from becoming long-time enemies.

Moana (Auli‘i Cravalho) makes waves in her return to the big screen in a new animated adventure that is too epic for your television. Originally planned as a show, Moana 2 has been reimagined into a feature film. In her latest adventure, our favorite wayfinder voyager princess sets sail for a quest across the Oceanic seas when she gets an unexpected call from her ancestors. And, of course, the shape-shifting demi-God Maui (Dwayne Johnson) is back, always ready to say “You’re welcome.”  This time, the new terrains Moana comes across will be more treacherous than the Heart of Te Fiti.

Everything the light touches is not just yet Mufasa’s kingdom. In the same spirit as the photorealistic CG-animated Lion King (2019) remake, this prequel tells the untold story of Mufasa (Aaron Pierre) and his brother Taka (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) before he became Scar. We will uncover how Mufasa underwent various tribulations that led to him becoming the reputable king of Pride Rock. Directed by Oscar Winner Barry Jenkins (yes, Moonlight writer-director Barry Jenkins), Mufasa will unleash his roar this December holiday season.

The first and fairest Disney princess to ever exist finally gets her long-awaited live-action adaptation. Starring Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler as the titular character and Gal Godot as the Evil Queen, the update helmed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) will surely be the apple of our eyes.

This original Pixar animated tale tells the story of a young boy named Elio (Yonas Kibreab) who’s mistakenly abducted by a colorful alien organization group, Communiverse (like the United Nations, if they were interplanetary). He learns that they are putting Earth on trial and that he must act as Earth’s Ambassador to keep it safe from harm. While taking on this bold new persona, Elio taps into his confident side and finds a place amongst the stars.

Boot up your Light Cycles because Tron again traverses from the world of video games to ours. Oscar-winner Jared Leto leads the third feature entry in Disney’s neon-colored sci-fi action series. Tron: Ares follows a digital program named Ares (Leto), which is sent from his digi-verse to ours à la Barbie. The film also stars Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges, reprising his role as Kevin Flynn, the creator of the Tron world itself. 

Zootopia 2 - Nov. 25, 2025

The world of Zootopia has more stories to tell and crimes to solve. Set in an urban metropolis where anthropomorphic animals of every kind reside, the sequel to the box-office-breaking Oscar-winning animated feature sees the return of Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman). No plot details have been revealed yet, but it is slated for a fall 2025 release.

Toy Story 5 - June 19, 2026

30 years after the world was introduced to Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Ham, Rex, and the other toys from Andy’s Room, Pixar’s marquee series returns for a fifth installment. No little details are available for the fifth (and maybe the last) Toy Story adventure outside a June 2026 release date.

Moana (live action) - July 10, 2026

Moana, Maui, and the island of Motunui get a shiny live-action update. Newcomer Catherine Laga‘aia stars as the wayfinding Polynesian princess in this live-action retelling of the beloved 2016 animated feature. Actor/producer Dwayne Johnson brings more than just his voice, he literally brings Maui to life by reprising his role, “Rock”-ing body and all. With production slated for this summer, you can find the IRL Moana voyaging into theaters in summer 2026, just before the original's 10-year anniversary later in November.

Frozen 3 - Nov. 25, 2026

With a popular Oscar-winning series like Frozen, how can one not “Let It Go” beyond one sequel?  While we’re entering “Into the Unknown” with no information on the plot for the upcoming Frozen threequel, you can expect Idina Menzel to reprise as Elsa and Josh Gad as everyone’s favorite sentient snowman, Olaf. The latest update on the feature comes from Disney CEO Bob Iger, who announced a November 2026 release date, freezing up the Thanksgiving holiday season like its predecessor.

Lilo & Stitch - TBD

Experiment 626, a.k.a Stitch, comes to life in a live-action/CG reimagining of the beloved Disney animated classic. The film follows an alien experiment fugitive made for destruction crash landing in Hawaii who is adopted as a puppy by a precocious, lonely girl named Lilo. The original film’s creator, Chris Sanders, reprises his voice role as Stitch and is paired with newcomer Maia Kealoha as Lilo. Directed by Dean-Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell With Shoes On), the update also stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Kaipot Dudoit, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, and Courtney B. Vance. It recently wrapped production back in March, so expect to say aloha to Lilo & Stitch when it lands on Disney+ soon.

The Aristocats - TBD

Going from Summer of Soul to the classiest of cats, Questlove helms the live-action/hybrid reimagining of Disney’s 1970 classic The Aristocats for Disney+. Anyone But You filmmaker Will Gluck is tapped to pen the screenplay. The original animated flick is set around a pampered cat named Duchess and her precocious kitties Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz, living in a fancy mansion with a wealthy owner. When they’re catnapped by their butler, who is out for their riches, Duschess teams up with a jazz-loving stray alleycat named O'Malley.

Sister Act 3 - TBD

30 years after she was Back in the Habit, Whoopi Goldberg is ready to don the cloister once more for a third Sister Act feature, this time for Disney+. For years, Goldberg has stated on The View that development for the third installment was being worked on, with the latest update being co-star Tanya Trotter claiming that the Sister Act 3 screenplay is done. When the time comes for the anticipated comedy sequel to be produced and put onto the streamer, we’ll all be singing “Oh Happy Day” together.
