The Makery, CVIM receive Centre County United Way Women United group grants

Centre County United Way’s Women United group recently awarded two grants to local organizations for projects that directly impact women and children in the county.

The Makery, a nonprofit community art studio in downtown State College, received $6,350 to establish a Children’s Space at the Centre County Courthouse. Centre Volunteers in Medicine was awarded $1,000 toward the nonprofit’s Breast Health Program. The funding will be used to spread awareness of the free breast care services for those who do not have health insurance or are underinsured.

Eight nonprofit agencies sought funding from the Women United group this year.
