Man sentenced for watching porn, exposing himself and touching woman in Penn State library

A man was sentenced Tuesday to months in jail and years of supervision for watching pornography, exposing his genitals and inappropriately touching a woman in Penn State’s Pattee Library.

Brandon J. Taylor, 35, was sentenced by Centre County Judge Julia Rater to a minimum of five months in the county jail. His maximum sentence is 23 1/2 months, Centre County District Attorney Bernie Cantorna told the Centre Daily Times. He received credit for about six months served since his January arrest.

Taylor, who was listed in charging documents as homeless, was also sentenced to two years of probation, Cantorna said.

Taylor was accused of viewing pornography on a library computer. He then approached a woman, exposed his penis, asked her to perform oral sex and touched her inappropriately, university police wrote in an affidavit of probable cause.

Taylor, an officer wrote, is a registered sex offender in New Hampshire. He pleaded guilty in April to a misdemeanor count of indecent assault and indecent exposure.

Several charges were dropped, including a felony count of failure to comply with registration requirements. His previous convictions did not require him to register under Pennsylvania law, Cantorna said.

Centre County First Assistant Public Defender Lora Rupert declined comment Wednesday.
