Markham hosting Summer of Safety Series through fun and engaging family activities

Markham Fire and Emergency Services (MFES) is launching its Summer of Safety Series by hosting four public education open houses aimed at promoting fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

These events, held at different fire stations across the city, will provide residents with valuable information and practical skills to enhance their safety and readiness in case of emergencies.

“We’re thrilled to bring the Summer of Safety Series to Markham with these fun-filled and informative open houses. They offer a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together, learn from our dedicated professionals, and enjoy some family-friendly activities,” said Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti.

Fire Chief Chris Nearing reiterated the goal is to equip residents with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe and prepared.

"The Summer Safety Series gives MFES a chance to reconnect with the grassroots of our community and further foster community engagement through practical education," he added.

Each open house will feature a variety of interactive displays, informational booths, and hands-on activities.
