Several songs from Taylor's album are rumored to be about her romance with Matty, including "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," "Fresh Out the Slammer," and the title track, "The Tortured Poets Department." In the latter, Taylor muses, "You left your typewriter at my apartment / Straight from the tortured poets department / I think some things I never say / Like, who uses typewriters anyway?" Once the album dropped, a clip of Matty talking about typewriters during a 2018 GQ interview resurfaced online.

"It's not that there's any kind of like, romance to having a notebook, but I really like typewriters, as well," Matty said at the time. "I don't have one with me because that is really impractical, but the thing is with typewriters and writing on pen to paper, there's kind of an element of like commitment that goes with the ceremony of it. Therefore, it requires you to concentrate a bit better." He continued, "It's mainly, like, stories that I write about my dreams of being in love with other pop stars."

An Us Weekly source also revealed that Matty felt "relief" once the album was released. "Matty still thinks very highly of Taylor, but we were all nervous about what she might have said on the album," the insider told the outlet, adding that Taylor allegedly gave him a heads up about the body of work.

"Matty's family knew about the relationship, and they were worried that Taylor was going to rip him apart. Matty has struggled with life in the public eye, and he’s been doing really well, but the last thing that he needs is for every Swiftie in the world to think he’s a villain," they added.

Well, it looks like there isn't any bad blood between these two, but if you want to refresh your memory on their 'ship, we've got the details:
