Meet the 10-year-old Bellingham resident competing on MasterChef Junior with Gordon Ramsey

A Bellingham local will be competing on MasterChef Junior: Home for the Holidays, a cooking competition show that will air this month, according to a news release.

Colbie, a 10-year-old Bellingham local, will compete in the two-night culinary contest with famous chef Gordon Ramsey as one of the judges.

“I’m super excited to be part of the competition for MasterChef Junior Home for the Holidays!” Colbie wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald. “It means so much to me; it’s really a dream come true and I can’t believe I did it! I’ve been a huge MasterChef Junior fan for so long, and it was always me dream to compete in the MasterChef kitchen and cook for Gordon Ramsay! I hope anyone kid who wants to be a chef watches the show and knows they can make their dreams come true.”

Colbie’s love for cooking started at a young age when her mother invited her to help cook at their home.

“I first started cooking before I can even remember. I always wanted to be close to my mom and my mom spent a lot of time in the kitchen, so I spent a lot of time in the kitchen because I wanted to be with her. She would give me little tasks like cutting soft foods with kid-safe knives and I have just always loved it,” Colbie wrote.

“It’s hard to put into words why I love to cook. ... I guess cooking just feels like love to me. It’s how I express my love to my family and friends,” Colbie wrote.

Colbie will compete against eight other contestants, and the winner will be rewarded with $25,000, Viking Kitchen appliances and a MasterChef trophy. All contestants and runners-up will also receive prizes.

MasterChef Junior: Home for The Holidays will air at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10 and Monday, Dec. 11 on FOX.
