Meet the Sun Herald Boys Soccer All-South Mississippi Team for the 2022-23 season

Long Beach and Bay High represented the Coast with successful trips to Jackson where they earned two of the three soccer championships won by South Mississippi boy’s and girl’s teams.

A competitive season also saw Pass Christian, Pearl River Central, St. Stanislaus and Gulfport compete in South State title games.

For the Tigers’ efforts in winning their second title in school history, Bay High sweeps the awards. Kelly Ross takes home Coach of the Year and Aiden Boudro wins both the Fan’s Choice and Sun Herald Player of the Year honors.

Here is the full boy’s soccer All-South Mississippi team.

Coach of the Year

Kelly Ross, Bay High

Ross led the Tigers to its first state championship since 2012, which was Ross’ first season on the job. Poetically, his second championship comes during his final season before stepping down into an assistant role.

Bay High put together an 18-5-2 record, including eight wins in a row to end the season. The Tigers scored two goals in the final two minutes to stun Sumrall in the second round of the playoffs and won South State with a 2-1 win over a Pass Christian team that swept its regular season matchups against Bay High.

Sun Herald Player of the Year

Aiden Boudro, Bay High

Boudro is one of the Coast’s top rising talents. After earning a spot on the All-South team last year as a freshman with 14 goals, Boudro followed up with a sophomore campaign that lands him Player of the Year honors.

Boudro scored 24 goals and assisted on 11 more for the Tigers. Along with Bryton Dupuy, Boudro was integral in leading Bay High to the state title. He scored the first goal of the match in the Tigers’ 2-0 championship-winning game against North Pontotoc.

Fan Choice Player of the Year

Aiden Boudro, Bay High

Boudro received 43 percent of the vote with 17,481 votes tallied. Boudro was the state finals MVP and scored in each playoff game.

Picayune’s Mason Ripoll came in second and Biloxi’s Andrew Kravette finished a close third.

Sun Herald All-South Mississippi team

  • Bryton Dupuy, Bay High: Dupuy scored seven goals and had 10 assists while anchoring the Tigers’ defense at center back.

  • Alexander Mink, Long Beach: Mink contributed to the Bearcats’ defense, which recorded 16 shutouts and allowed six goals throughout the season. Mink also scored the lone goal in the state title game.

  • Vincent Jeanfreau, Long Beach: Jeanfreau scored five goals, had six assists and helped lead a stout defense from his midfield position. Jeanfreau also scored the game-winning goal in the third round of the playoffs.

  • Dylan Kippes, Long Beach: Kippes led the Bearcats in goals this season and helped lead Long Beach to its third straight state title.

  • Ethan LaBorde, Long Beach: LaBorde led Long Beach in total assists.

  • Calvin Jackson, Pascagoula: Jackson scored 19 goals for the Panthers in his senior year.

  • Caden Chisholm, Pascagoula: Chisholm scored eight goals and recorded five assists. The senior is heading to Meridian C.C.

  • Brandon Nelson, Pascagoula: The junior goalkeeper had 58 saves for the Panthers.

  • Byron Shepherd, St. Patrick: The senior scored five goals and picked up 11 assists. Shepherd, a Coast All Star game participant, is signed to MGCCC.

  • Michael Baty, St. Patrick: The sophomore scored 10 goals and registered another 10 assists.

  • Brandon Reed, St. Patrick: Reed is a senior defender who was named to the Coast All Star team.

  • Trey Roche, Pass Christian: Roche scored 25 goals and had nine assists in leading the Pirates to the 4A semifinals.

  • Brant Tarter, Pearl River Central: Tarter scored 19 goals with nine assists as a senior and is a MGCCC signee.

  • Chris Hart, Pearl River Central: The junior scored 15 goals and had 10 assists for the Blue Devils.

  • Noah Verweij, Pearl River Central: Verweik had 15 goals and another 10 assists as a senior.

  • Cameron Badurak, Gulfport: Badurak scored 12 goals and assisted on another 27 for the Admirals.

  • Seamus Murphy, Gulfport: Murphy had 10 assists and scored three goals as a defensive midfielder.

  • Drew Corbin, Gulfport: The goalkeeper had 75 saves in 19 games with goals against average of 0.8. He also scored three goals and assisted on another.

  • Andrew Kravette, Biloxi: Defender and Jones College signee named to both the Coast All Star team and Mississippi Association of Coaches All Star team.

  • Parker O’Keefe, Biloxi: O’Keefe scored 18 goals and assisted on 12 more for the Indians as a senior.

  • Cy Smith, Biloxi: The senior picked up 14 assists and scored eight goals.

  • Mark Peaden, Ocean Springs: The senior was a MAC all star who scored 14 goals and assisted on 10 more for the Greyhounds.

  • Camden Hayes, Ocean Springs: Hayes scored two goals with one assist and was moved into a defensive role, where he helped the Greyhounds record 12 shutouts in his 15 games at center back.

  • Will Berglind, Ocean Springs: Berlind scored once and assisted once, but was also moved to center back. In his 16 games on defense, the Greyhounds allowed just nine goals.

  • Mason Ripoll, Picayune: Ripoll scored 18 goals in 13 games and assisted on another seven. Selected to the East vs West All Star game.

  • Oren Doxey, St. Stanislaus: The midfielder led the Rock-a-Chaws to their second straight South State game and scored both goals in a playoff victory over St. Patrick.
