Milo Manheim Reacts to Sabrina Carpenter's 'Skyrocket' to Fame: 'She's Come So Far' (Exclusive)

After costarring in Carpenter's 'Feather' music video, Manheim tells PEOPLE it's been 'really cool' to see the fellow Disney Channel star 'skyrocket' to fame

Milo Manheim is applauding Sabrina Carpenter’s continued music success.

While speaking with PEOPLE exclusively about his Zombies franchise, the actor, 23, praised the fellow Disney Channel alum, 25, on her recent singles “Espresso” and Please Please Please” which have been dominating the charts, with the latter recently reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“She's come so far,” Manheim said of the Girl Meets World actress-turned-popstar. “It's really cool to see her skyrocket. She’s so talented, so lovely. She deserves it.”

Like the Zombies star, Carpenter first got her break on Disney Channel in the Boy Meets World spinoff in 2014 before embarking on her music career. Recently, her fifth studio album Emails I Can't Send gained critical acclaim with hit singles like "Nonsense" and "Feather," the latter of which starred Manheim in the music video.

Discussing the October 2023 video, which starred Carpenter as a femme fatale lead killing off boys who wronged her, Manheim notes the whole experience was “really fun and easy.”

“I didn't even know what I was doing that day. I was just like, I trust Sabrina,” he explains. “I pulled up and we shot that and it was awesome.”

In addition to costarring in her music video, Manheim says he got to watch Carpenter perform at Jingle Ball last year, noting he got “really emotional” during her number.

“I was like, damn, she's come so far,” he says, adding that he and his Zombies costar Meg Donnelly have had a longtime friendship with Carpenter, including many game nights at Donnelly’s house.

“We always got each other when you go back to it,” Manheim says of the tight bond he and his former Disney Channel actors share with each other.

“It's like your family,” he continues. “A lot of these Disney kids didn't even go to school so it really does feel like your school friends going out into the world. And when you see them kill it, it's just like, hell yeah!”

After opening for Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour, Carpenter is slated to hit the road with her recently announced 2024 Short 'n' Sweet headlining tour. While Manheim says he’d “love to” catch the singer in concert, in the meantime, he’s happily cheering her on from the sidelines.

“I wish her well,” he says of Carpenter’s career. “I hope she keeps killing it — I mean, she's going to.”
