Montreal father furious after Conservatives try to solicit vote from murdered daughter

A Pierrefonds, Que., father is angry with the Conservative Party after he received two voter solicitation calls for his murdered daughter.

Kelly-Anne Drummond, 24, was killed by her live-in boyfriend 11 years ago.

John Drummond now wonders how her name is still appearing on election lists.

Drummond said the first call from the Conservative Party came in May — before the federal election was called.

On the line was the federal Conservative Party candidate for the Pierrefonds-Dollard riding, Valérie Assouline.

Drummond said he was shocked by the call and told Assouline his daughter was murdered more than a decade ago.

He said he was assured Kelly-Anne Drummond's name would be removed from the list, but then the Conservative Party called his home again in July.

"It is unbelievable that the Conservative Party or any party in Canada would be working from a database that is over 10 years old," he said.

"How in the blazes can this happen twice?"

Drummond said he informed government authorities about his daughter's death to prevent this from happening.

Assouline apologizes

Assouline said the error may have occurred because the party was working with two separate lists.

"We are very sorry about what happened and as a lawyer and as a mom of four kids I understand very much what he could have gone through," said Assouline, a lawyer, adding that she would like to meet with Drummond so she can apologize in person.

She said the Conservative party supplied the list.
