Nick Lachey Is on ‘Daddy Duty’ — and Wife Vanessa Teases ‘Payback’ for Being a ‘Super Dad'

Nick Lachey is reporting for dad duty while his wife and NCIS: Hawai'i star Vanessa Lachey is away from home.
On Monday, the father of three, 50, shared an Instagram post showing what a day in the life for him and his kids looks like when Vanessa, 43, is off filming a TV series.
"On daddy duty while V wraps up filming season 3 of NCIS: Hawai’i, so the kids and I took our spring break trip and went to the [San Diego Zoo]!" Nick wrote in the caption. "We had a blast and learned a lot about their conservation efforts both local and worldwide. If you’re in the area I highly recommend a family trip!!"
In the photos, the couple's kids can be seen feeding a camel and posing with an aardvark — and the 98 Degrees alum snapped a close-up of an anteater, too.
Vanessa responded in the comment section, calling her husband of over 12 years a "super dad" for taking their kids out to the zoo — and joked that she had some "payback" in store for Nick.
"Super Dad!" she wrote in the comments. "I Love You so much! And… payback will be worth it! 😏❤️."
The couple, who tied the knot in 2011 after five years of dating, share three kids — sons Camden, 11, and Phoenix, 7, and daughter Brooklyn, 9.
The Love is Blind co-hosts have been candid about parenting in the past. Just last week, Vanessa spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about the one rule she and Nick always try to follow when it comes to their kids.
"The one thing that we've always agreed on is that we will always, always let our children know how much we love them," Vanessa told PEOPLE. "It sounds so simple, but I didn't have that constant affirmation, physically and verbally, when I was younger."
The mom of three added that their rule is especially important when it comes to discipline.
"At some point, after the discipline has settled in and they've had their moment, we will come in with a loving — whether it's a loving touch or a loving conversation — to let them know why this was important and why it got to that."
"I think it's just about letting them know they feel loved," Vanessa added. "I mean, that's all I wanted to know, that I was loved by mom and my dad, and so we will always give that to them."
Nick has been outspoken about his love for their kids. In a 2018 interview with Us Weekly, the TV host revealed that one of the "hardest" moments for him as a dad is when he's away from his kids.
"I get up with the kids every day," he said at the time. "So when I’m on the road and I’m not there, it kills me."
