November election will decide state and Coast county races. Here are the candidates

Most local races in South Mississippi were decided in the August primary, but there are still contests beyond the governor’s race to draw voters for the Nov. 7 General Election.

Only a handful of local races are still be be decided.

For those who are unsure where to vote, use the polling place locator or call the circuit clerk’s office:

Harrison County — 228-435-8220

Hancock County — 228-467-5265

Jackson County — 228-769-3040

These are the contested races in the Coast counties, with R for Republican, D for Democrat, I for Independent and L for Libertarian:

Harrison County

Circuit Clerk — Justin Wetzel (R), Melvin Ray (I)

Justice Court Judge District 4 — Theressia Lyons (D), John “Jake” Cook (I), James Griffin (I)

All five supervisors are running unopposed: District 1, Dan Cuevas; District 2, Rebecca Powers; District3, Marlin Ladner; District 4, Kent Jones; District 5, Nathan Barrett.

Hancock County

Chancery Clerk — Tiffany Cowman (R), Henry Ward (D) (Incumbent Tim Kellar is retiring)

Supervisor District 2 — Incumbent Greg Shaw (R), Timothy Stinson Jr. (L)

Justice Court Judge 3 — Eric Moran Sr. (R), Lynn Smith (L)

Election Commissioner 2 — Sandra “Sam” Henley and Tad Shaw, both nonpartisan

The other four supervisors have no opposition: District 1, Donald Graham; District 3, Charles “Chuck” Clark; District 4, Scotty Adam; District 5, Darrin “Bo” Ladner.

Jackson County

No contested local races

All five supervisors are running unopposed: District 1, Barry Cumbest; District 2, Ennit Morris; District 3, Ken Taylor; District 4, Troy Ross; District 5, Randy Bosarge.

State races

The most contentious race is for the top office, with Gov. Tate Reeves seeking a second term and Brandon Presley, former Public Service Commissioner for the northern district, challenging him for the job.
