It's been seven years since the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company closed its doors, and ever since there's been talk of rebooting the US version of The Office.

While may of the show's cast members have weighed in about the potential for a reboot or a revival of the show, plans for more episodes are yet to materialise.

With the upcoming launch of NBC's streaming service Peacock, fans are wondering if more episodes could be on the way. But according to the show's boss Greg Daniels, there's been no talk of the show making a return.

"I haven't spoken to anybody at Peacock, no," Daniels told Comicbook.com. "I mean, I think that the talk really came up when they did Will and Grace. They rebooted that show.

"But I don't think that we would either be able to get all the cast together, because a lot of them are doing different things, or whether we'd really need to do that, because I feel like we had our finale."

Daniels went on to add that the show was written towards specific endings, so going back to the characters would be a challenge.

"We knew we were going to end the show for that last season, and then we wrote towards particular endings," he adds.

"I mean, I don't know. Sometimes, it seems like people want something, but I don't know if they really do want it, or just means that they really liked the original. It's hard to say."

Last month John Krasinski, who played Jim Halpert in the sitcom, said he'd "love" to do a reunion if it happened.

"The Office was absolutely everything to me," he said. "I mean, it is my beginning and my end. I'm pretty sure at the end of my career I'll still be known for Jim. It was the first creative family I've ever had.

"In many ways, they will always be the most important people in that most important experience in my career. So yeah, if they did a reunion, I would absolutely love to do it."

All nine seasons of The Office are available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
