Okotoks plane crash injures pilot

A pilot was injured when an airplane crashed in a farmer’s field near the he airport in Okotoks, south of Calgary, on Monday evening.

The plane was travelling from Koocanusa, Montana, with three people on board when it had fuel problems and landed safely in a field just short of the runway at about 9:20 p.m. MT.

The passengers then got out of the aircraft as the pilot made a second attempt to reach the runway.

But the plane crashed as its landing clear clipped a chain-link fence, RCMP said.

The 31-year-old pilot was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Officials from the Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
