One killed after shooting outside Newport Beach mall leading to high speed chase: Reports

One person was killed after a shooting outside a shopping center in Newport Beach, California Tuesday afternoon, according to Newport Beach Police.

Patricia McKay, the 68-year-old victim who was visiting the area from New Zealand, was killed by a vehicle one of the suspect's was driving, according to a press release issued by the department, and not the gunfire itself.

Witnesses reported that two suspects attempted to rob McKay and her husband at the Fashion Island Mall. One suspect fired a handgun three times but did not strike any nearby shoppers.

The victim's husband was unharmed, according to the Orange County Register.

Three suspects arrested following police chase

Three suspects led police on a car chase from Orange County into Los Angeles County, local news outlets reported Tuesday. The suspects drove the car westbound through the 105 Freeway at speeds of up to 110 mph before exiting.

One suspect fled the car when it stopped in Cypress and was arrested there, according to the Newport Beach Police. The two remaining suspects were arrested in Los Angeles County.

Newport Beach police identified the three suspects as: Leroyernest Joseph McCrary, 26, Jaden Cunningham, 18, and Malachi Eddward Darnell, 18. The suspects were booked on charges of homicide, robbery with firearm and conspiracy.

The three have not been charged in the California Superior Court in Orange County as of noon Wednesday.
