Panthers rework several positions in scouting department following busy 2023 offseason
The Panthers have made several adjustments to their scouting department ahead of next week’s mandatory minicamp.
On Friday, the team announced a handful of changes, including the promotion of Cole Spencer, who will take on the role of director of player personnel. Spencer previously served as the Panthers’ college scouting director.
According to the team’s website, Spencer will work with newly hired VP of player personnel, Adrian Wilson, and will still have a strong influence on college scouting.
Jared Kirksey, who previously served as the assistant director of college scouting, has been promoted to Spencer’s former role as director of the college scouting department. Both Spencer and Kirksey joined the Panthers in 2021.
Along with those promotions, former scouting assistant Jordan Trgovac and scouting intern Caden McCloughan have been promoted to area scouts. McCloughan will scout the West Coast, while Trgovac will monitor the Mid-Atlantic region, according to the team website.
Trgovac is the daughter of former Panthers defensive coordinator Mike Trgovac. She initially worked within the team’s public relations department before moving to the scouting side.
Corey Fuller, who previously served as the West Coast scout, was moved to the Southwest region. Eli Montague, who previously monitored the Southwest, will move to the Southeast region.
Juston Burris, who played safety for the Panthers from 2020 to 2022, will also continue his scouting internship with the team. He started working with the Panthers’ scouting department during rookie minicamp in May as part of the Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship program. The program is designed to introduce college and NFL players to scouting duties as they consider their options after their playing careers are completed.
Burris, 29, played college football at NC State. During his three seasons with the Panthers, he produced 96 tackles, six pass breakups and two interceptions.
