Which Penn State football players were honored on All-Big Ten defense and special teams?

The Big Ten announced its defensive awards for the season Tuesday afternoon, and it should be no surprise that plenty of Nittany Lions were honored.

Penn State had 16 players named across all-conference teams on defense, starting with DE Chop Robinson, DE Adisa Isaac and LB Abdul Carter on the first team. Robinson was a choice by the coaches and media while Isaac was a first team choice by the media and Carter was a first team choice by the coaches.

Robinson finished the season with four sacks and two forced fumbles despite leaving the Ohio State game early and missing the ensuing two games against Maryland and Indiana.

Isaac, who made the coaches’ second team, led the Nittany Lions with 7.5 sacks and become a stalwart in the running game, frequently disrupting the Nittany Lions’ opponents by making plays in the backfield.

Carter, who made the media’s second team, was all over the field for Penn State, securing 4.5 sacks and an interception from the second level of the defense.

They were joined by CB Kalen King on the second team, with King making it for the coaches and the media. The cornerback recorded two passes defended this year but was infrequently targeted thanks to his ability in coverage.

CB and return specialist Daequan Hardy received recognition for both spots, being named third team by the coaches and honorable mention by the media for his defensive work along with second team by both coaches and media for his special teams play.

K Alex Felkins (second team, media, third team, coaches) and P Riley Thompson (honorable mention, coaches and media) were also honored for their leg work.

RB Nick Singleton earned an honorable mention (coaches and media) for his time as a kick returner this season.

DE Dani Dennis-Sutton (third team, coaches, honorable mention, media), CB Johnny Dixon (third team, coaches, honorable mention, media), LB Kobe King (honorable mention, coaches and media), S Jaylen Reed (honorable mention, coaches and media), S K.J. Winston (honorable mention, coaches and media), LB Curtis Jacobs (honorable mention, coaches), DT Zane Durant (honorable mention, media) and DT Dvon Ellies (honorable mention, media) were also honored.
