Police Seize Large Cocaine Haul from Intercepted Aircraft in Sao Paolo

Brazilian authorities intercepted an aircraft carrying around 400 kilograms (880 pounds) of cocaine in the Sao Paolo region on Tuesday, April 9, federal police said.

According to the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), the aircraft traveled with cloned license plates and was first spotted on the border of Paraguay and Brazil’s Mato Grosso do Sul region before being intercepted.

The plane was forced to land on a dirt runway near Santa Cruz do Rio Pardo, a town in the state of Sao Paulo, according to the FAB, and the pilot was arrested for drug trafficking and taken to a police station in Marilia.
