Poll: Which Broward high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (March 10)

Broward County’s best brought home state championships in basketball and delivered early season highlights in spring sports last week.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Broward County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, March 14, around 10 p.m.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Jeremy Elyzee, Pines Charter, boys basketball: Elyzee scored 22 points in the Class 6A state final which followed a 19-point outing in the semifinal to lead the Jaguars to their first state title since 2021.

Khadee Hession, St. Thomas Aquinas, girls basketball: Hession scored 20 points and had 10 steals and eight assists in a Class 6A state semifinal win over Apopka Wekiva. She then followed with 16 points, six rebounds and six assists to lead the Raiders over Valrico Bloomingdale and win their fourth consecutive state championship.

Jasleen Green, American Heritage, girls basketball: Green had a combined 41 combined points to lead the Patriots to a win over Daytona Beach Mainland and their sixth state title in the past seven seasons.

Rocco Rovetto, NSU University School, baseball: Rovetto hit a home run and totaled six RBI in a 15-7 win over Ransom Everglades.

Richard Bello, Flanagan, baseball: Bello tossed six shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out 11 to lead the Falcons to a 3-0 win over Archbishop McCarthy.
