Prince William Responds to the Latest Update About Kate Middleton's Health
For months now, fans of the royal family have anxiously awaited news about Kate Middleton's health and when the princess—who announced this spring that she was undergoing treatment for cancer—might be returning to her official duties. While we don't yet have an answer to the latter, today Kensington Palace did share some seemingly hopeful news.
In an unexpected update from Kate herself, the Princess of Wales thanked the public for their messages of support and revealed that her treatment will be continuing for "a few more months." She also shared the surprising news that she plans to be in attendance at Trooping the Colour this weekend to mark King Charles's official birthday celebration. This will be her first public appearance with the royal family since Christmas of last year. Kate also noted that she's hoping to be able to join in some more public events throughout the summer, though T&C understands that no decisions have been made about specific events at this point.
In response to the news, the palace said that Prince William is "pleased to see The Princess starting to engage with the work and projects that are important to her. He will continue to focus his time on supporting his wife and children, while continuing to undertake his public duties."
William has been circumspect in offering updates about Kate recent weeks, telling a veteran at the commemorations for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in early June simply that, "She'd have loved to be here." This latest missive announcement is sure to come as a relief to many who wish the princess well.
