Rachel Zegler Wishes Boyfriend Josh Andrés Rivera a Happy Birthday: 'So Lucky to Be Loved By Him'

Rachel Zegler is wishing her boyfriend Josh Andrés Rivera a happy birthday!

Zegler, 22, shared a number of photos to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, May 1, to mark Rivera's 29th birthday. "it's the man's birthday today. i love him so very much," she wrote in a caption over a photo of her kissing Rivera on the cheek.

"he is my very best friend. and he has wings like this! and I am so lucky to be loved by him," Zegler continued in her Stories, adding one sentence under each of the eight photos she posted — the images showed her and Rivera on red carpets for their 2023 movie Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, among other snapshots.

"for the goofy moments... and the more sincere ones," she wrote, over a photo of her and Rivera posing with her dog Lenny; one image showed the couple and pup dressed up as Scooby Doo characters Fred and Daphne and Scooby.

"i love you through it all. ❤️ happy birthday," Zegler wrote in her Stories. She added one more photo of her and Rivera laid out on a bare bed together, finishing the birthday tribute by writing, ""we've spend the ultimate birthday week moving."

Zegler celebrated her two-year anniversary with Rivera back in October 2023. The couple appear to have first met when they worked together in Steven Spielberg's 2021 remake of West Side Story. Zegler portrayed the lead character María in her feature film debut in that movie, while Rivera played Chino, a character whom María is first set up with through her brother and friends before falling for love interest Tony (Ansel Elgort).

Though Zegler and Rivera mark the start of their relationship in October 2021, she posted publicly on X, then known as Twitter, about her affection for her now-boyfriend as far back as February of that yer, writing at the time: "i love josh andres rivera."

Zegler and Rivera went on to work together again in last year's Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes; Zegler notably played Hunger Games tribute Lucy Gray Baird in the movie, while Rivera portayed a Hunger Games mentor named Sejanus Plinth. The couple opened up to PEOPLE about working together while dating at that movie's premiere back in November. 

“Having a familiar face on any set, I think any young actor can attest, is the biggest form of comfort,” Zegler said at the time. “And also as [Rivera’s] girlfriend, his friend, and his coworker, it's amazing to see the trajectory of his career, and to witness his rise to stardom. I love him so much."

Rivera, in turn, said he felt "really lucky" to spend time with Zegler while making the film. “It was a really great source of comfort for me to have her with me so far away from home. We were in a different country. We got to explore that country together. It was absolutely lovely. I feel very fortunate.”

Zegler and Rivera share a birthday week — she will mark her own birthday on Friday, May 3.
