REALTOR Association Makes Fremont Candidate Endorsements

FREMONT, CA — The Bay East Association of REALTORS has announced its list of candidate endorsements for mayor and city council in the November 3, 2020 General Election, including for Fremont. The candidates were chosen because of their views about real estate issues and how city polices and regulations impact home ownership.

“Bay East is endorsing candidates who know how important home ownership is in providing safe and stable shelter, particularly during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Tina Hand, 2020 President of the Bay East Association of REALTORS.

According to Bay East, all mayoral and city council candidates were asked to submit questionnaires and participate in an interview process. Those who earned the endorsement understand and support Bay East positions on home ownership, the nuances and challenges related to providing rental housing opportunities, spurring economic development, and the protection of private property rights.

“Local politics is just like real estate in the sense that location means a lot,” said Hand. “These candidates reflect the best leadership ideas when it comes to dealing with housing and community development issues that are specific to their cities.”

Receiving endorsements are:

  • Fremont Mayor: Lily Mei

  • Fremont City Council District 1: Teresa Keng

  • Fremont City Council District 5: Raj Salwan

  • Fremont City Council District 6: Charles Liu and Yogi Chugh
