ReDi grant funding approved

ReDi grants were approved at the May 16 RDCK board meeting, with a grand total of $1,447,575 to be disbursed across the region.

The Valley Voice has already published the results for New Denver, Silverton, Slocan and Nakusp. Here’s the breakdown of successful applicants for the rest of our coverage area.

Area D/Kaslo

Approved allocations total $58,846.

Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services: $500 for a medical bus; PALS: $1,000 for animal rescue program; and Arrow Park Community Association: $4,000 for water monitoring pilot, $6,180 for fire caddy maintenance and upgrades, and $1,000 for critical infrastructure mapping.

Area K-Burton

Allocations total $19,835.

Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services: $750 for a medical bus; Burton Senior Citizens’ Association Branch 124: $6,788.25 to replace chairs; PALS: $494.59 for animal rescue program; and Burton Community Association: $3,437.16 for community BBQ, $1,000 for mulch and gravel for Burton Walkway; and $7,365 to purchase equipment.

Area K-Edgewood

Successful applications total $34,504.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 203: $8,000 for cenotaph restoration; Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services: $1,500 for a medical bus; Lower Arrow Lakes Conservation Association: $2,504 for SS Minto display; PALS: $5,000 for animal rescue program; Edgewood Community Park Association: $8,000 for improving the Community Fair Building, and kitchen facilities at the Ball Park; Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department Society: $7,500 for thermal imaging drone; and Arrow Slocan Community Services (Fauquier Family Programs): $2,000 for children’s summer camp and movie nights.

Area K-Fauquier

$20,952 will be disbursed.
