Reggie Chaney, former University of Houston basketball star, dies at 23

Reggie Chaney, former University of Houston basketball forward, was found dead in an Arlington apartment on Monday.

He was 23 years old.

Arlington Police were called to the apartment after Chaney was found unresponsive by a family friend around noon according to police department spokesman Tim Ciesco. Ciesco first commented to the Houston Chronicle.

Chaney was pronounced dead at the scene by Paramedics.

A cause of death has not yet been determined by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office and an investigation is pending.

“At this point, it’s unclear what caused his death — but based on our initial investigation we do not suspect foul play,” Ciesco said, “He added that an autopsy will “hopefully shed more light on what happened.”

Chaney was slated to leave the country in a few days to continue his basketball career in Greece with A.E. Psychikou.
