Regina police officer injured in 'accidental' shooting by another officer
A Regina police officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot by a fellow officer on Friday morning.
The Regina Police Service said in a news release that the incident was the result of an "accidental discharge" of a police officer's firearm.
At approximately 12:15 a.m. CST, officers with the street gang unit and the tactical support unit were executing a search warrant at a home in the 1000 block of Retallack Street, police said.
That's when there was the accidental discharge from one officer's gun, according to police. The bullet hit a fellow officer, who was taken to hospital.
No members of the public were injured, police said.
The news release said that the Saskatchewan Serious Response Team, a police watchdog, is monitoring as the Regina Police Service's major crimes unit investigates.
