Roman Kemp reduced his co-host Sian Welby to tears live on-air during his penultimate show at Capital FM.

The radio DJ announced last month that he would be leaving the station after 10 years, with his final show having aired today (March 28).

During yesterday's emotional show, Kemp informed his listeners: "Tomorrow, it’s the big one. It’s my final show after being on Capital for 10 years. It’s my last one!"

"A lot of you guys are asking me, people have been saying to me, ‘what are you going to do on the show? What’s it going to look like? How should we plan this out?’ And if I’m totally honest, I just want it to be as normal as possible."

When This Morning star Welby started to tear up, Kemp paused to ask her: "Sian, are you crying? Oh no, oh no!"

"Yeah I am. I just suddenly realised tomorrow is your last show, I actually am crying. It’s just been such a mad – today has been such a fun day," she shared.

"To know that tomorrow is the last one – and we’ve all been building up to this for so long – it just got to me then as you said it."

Welby and fellow co-host Chris Stark had surprised Kemp by arranging for him to host the show at the Emirates Stadium in London, the home ground of his favourite football team, Arsenal.

During his last show at the station today, Kemp signed off with an emotional final message for his listeners.

"I have grown up in this place and that's because of all of you listening. You have been able to be there for me for moments in my life that I never imagined would even happen," he began.

"I've had moments on this show where my whole life outside of this room is completely down the pan, and I didn't want to be here anymore, and where my life outside of this room has been the worst thing ever.

"I know I live this lovely, privileged life but in my head that's how it felt. I knew all I had were these four hours in my day where I was going to laugh and be surrounded by people that get me and have fun with me. And those four hours, those people I'm talking about, that's you as well, you listening. You have no idea how much you have helped me."
