Rupert Murdoch Marries Elena Zhukova at His L.A. Vineyard
Rupert Murdoch has tied the knot for the fifth time.
Murdoch, 93, wed Elena Zhukova, 67, a retired molecular biologist this past Saturday at Moraga, his vineyard estate in Bel Air, Los Angeles. Their engagement was announced this past March; Murdoch and Zhukova reportedly began dating last summer, meeting through Murdoch's third wife, Wendi Deng.
For the nuptials, Murdoch wore a dark suit and sneakers, while Zhukova wore an off-the-shoulder ivory dress, reportedly designed by Emilia Wickstead. No further details on the ceremony have been made public. Paparazzi photos published by the Daily Mail show some of the guests in attendance, including Deng, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, former U.S. Attorney General William Barr, CEO of News Corp Robert Thomson, and actor Elya Baskin.
This is not Zhukova's first marriage—she was previously married to Alexander Zhukov and linked to George Gause—and it is Murdoch's fifth trip down the aisle. He was previously married to (in order) Patricia Booker, Anna Torv, Deng, and Jerry Hall. Plus, last year, he was was engaged to Ann Lesley Smith, but after two weeks, they quickly called off their engagement.
Both Murdoch and Zhukova have children from previous marriages. Murdoch has six children—Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Elizabeth, Grace, and Chloe—and thirteen grandchildren. Zhukova has three children, including Dasha, who was married to Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
This past fall, Murdoch stepped down as chairman of Fox and News Corp., with his son, Lachlan, replacing him. "For my entire professional life, I have been engaged daily with news and ideas, and that will not change," he wrote in a memo to staff. "But the time is right for me to take on different roles, knowing that we have truly talented teams and a passionate, principled leader in Lachlan who will become sole Chairman of both companies."
