Russell Crowe addresses potential MCU return following Thor: Love and Thunder

Russell Crowe has addressed a potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his turn in Thor: Love and Thunder.

The Oscar-winning actor appeared as Zeus in last year's MCU outing, with things left open as his character sent his son Hercules (Ted Lasso's Brett Goldstein) to kill the God of Thunder.

Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Crowe was asked about a potential return, replying: "Well, nobody's brought anything up with me, but, I mean, it seems like that's the idea at the end of the last one, right? But, I don't really know."

"Yeah, look, if you're a young actor and you get the opportunity to be on a set with Taika Waititi, take it," he said of the movie's director. "It's a lot of fun, he's a creative genius, but he's also just a lovely bloke."

Crowe also praised co-star Chris Hemsworth, admitting that while he didn't really know him beforehand, he was "really pleasantly surprised at what a good actor he is," adding Hemsworth had "great comedy chops" and was "a really warm welcoming fella".

The star also joked: "What you see when you're at the movie theatre is this big, sumptuous, amazing set, but in reality, it's just me, and Chris, and a couple of cardboard boxes covered in blue shit, you know?"

Goldstein's mid-credits scene cameo with Crowe was one of the movie's big surprises, with the Ted Lasso star speaking last year about keeping it secret.

"I didn't tell anyone because Marvel put a chip in my neck that said, 'If you talk about this you're dead'," he told Variety.

"My mom and dad, I sent them a text and said 'I've just seen Thor'. I knew it's not the kind of film they'd see. I said, 'You should go see it. It's funny'."

He added: "My mom is texting me all the way through the film giving me a running commentary. I'm like, 'Just watch the film!'

"It gets to the end bit, where it shows Russell Crowe... My mom texts me 'Russell Crowe's in it again, he's very funny'. I go, 'F**king look up at the screen!'"

All four Thor movies, including Thor: Love and Thunder, are available to stream now on Disney+.
