See SLO County native Zac Efron receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Actor and San Luis Obispo County native Zac Efron received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday.
The 36-year-old movie star, who was born in San Luis Obispo, received the 2,767th star at an 11:30 a.m. ceremony, according to the Hollywood Walk of Fame website.
“We are thrilled to honor actor Zac Efron who began his career as a Disney alum and has reinvented himself as a leading man by playing a wide variety of great roles,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “What a way to end our year of star ceremonies with this very popular and gifted actor!”
Efron was accompanied by actors Jeremy Allen White and Harris Dickinson, who co-star with him in the upcoming film, ”The Iron Claw,” and actor Miles Teller, who recently appeared in “Top Gun: Maverick.”
The event was hosted by Marc Malkin, Variety magazine’s senior editor for culture and events.

Hollywood star has roots in SLO County performing arts
Efron was born in San Luis Obispo and graduated from Arroyo Grande High School.
As a young actor, he appeared in productions at the Great American Melodrama and Vaudeville in Oceano and PCPA-Pacific Conservatory Theatre in Santa Maria.
Efron has spoken in the past about his local roots, telling The Tribune in 2017 that “The Central Coast made me who I am.”
