Snow, winds close schools, cancel buses in parts of Manitoba

The snow and wind has already cancelled buses and classes in parts of Manitoba.

A winter storm warning has been issued right across the south with snow starting in the west on Monday morning and reaching Winnipeg by the evening. The province also issued a high wind warning for the south basins of Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba for Tuesday.

There was poor visibility and a lot of snow just outside of Brandon, Man., on Monday afternoon. The Brandon School Division announced that there will be no buses running outside the city on Tuesday and Alexander School, École O'Kelly School and Spring Valley School are closed for the day.

The Beautiful Plans School Division in the Neepawa and Carberry area also announced that buses would not be running on Tuesday. Brookdale, J.M. Young and Colony School are also closed.

Park West School Division, in the west end of the province, has closed all schools and the division office for Tuesday.

On Tuesday night, Highway 16 from the Saskatchewan border to Minnedosa was also closed.
