A stormy end to the September heat sweeps across Ontario, Quebec Thursday

Unusual September heat brought a series of record-breaking temperatures.

Saint-Anicet, Que., broke the September provincial humidex record for Quebec with a value of 43.4°C. Moosonee, Ont., also broke its September all-time temperature record, reaching a sizzling 35.1°C on Tuesday.

The unbearable heat and humidity may soon be behind us. A stormy change will sweep out the 30+ degree heat across Ontario and Quebec by Thursday.

Thursday

Timing: Morning into the evening

Location: southern and eastern Ontario, southern and eastern Quebec

Weather: Cloudy, rainy, weather takes over on Thursday as the same slow-moving boundary that swept through much of Ontario and Quebec moves eastward. Areas across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and around the St. Lawrence could see isolated thunderstorms with thunderstorms throughout the day.

LOOK AHEAD: Warm or cool? Reversing patterns to dominate Canada in September

The ample heat will leave behind enough thunderstorm energy to possibly produce severe thunderstorms and large hail in southeastern Quebec.

The rain is in no hurry to leave Ontario and some may see periods of showers into Friday as well.

Humidex values hold onto an uncomfortable mid to low 30s until a more seasonable air mass settles in post-weekend.

Although temperatures will be much cooler, periods of rainfall may interrupt weekend plans to enjoy it.
