Sydney Sweeney Debuts Shocking Black Bob Hairstyle with Her Fairytale Ballgown at 2024 Met Gala
This marks the third time the star has attended the event, making her debut on the carpet in 2022
Sydney Sweeney’s 2024 Met Gala look was one for the ages.
The 26-year-old actress, who recently starred in and produced the 2024 horror movie Immaculate, graced the red carpet in a strikingly sophisticated dress that exemplified the event’s dress code: “The Garden of Time.”
Looking straight out of a fairy tale, Sweeney wore a baby blue Miu Miu ball gown with a full tulle skirt that had delicate embroidered flowers on it. It had a massive train for added drama, and she amped up her look even more with black opera gloves.
But the shock factor of her look came from her hair — which was a black bob with bangs! The normally blonde actress took a turn for the dark side for the evening with the look.

The event’s dress code draws on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s upcoming Costume Institute exhibit, which will feature around 250 items, including an 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ballgown.

Sweeney made her first Met Gala appearance in 2022 in a white Tory Burch dress featuring a very signature Sweeney corset bodice. (The 2022 Met Gala theme was “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” with a gilded glamour and white-tie dress code.)
Sweeney returned to the gala the next year, in 2023, shimmering in a bejeweled baby doll pink Miu Miu dress accented in the front with a gauzy black bow. She carried the throughline up to her hair, pinning another black bow to the top of her billowing blowout.
Last year, in a whirlwind press tour for her romcom Anyone but You with Glen Powell, Sweeney served look after look for her premiere appearances and promo outings, even going so far as to debut 10 separate looks in 48 hours while in New York City.
