T.J. Brodie signs 5-year extension with Flames

The Calgary Flames announced Monday they've signed young defenceman T.J. Brodie to a five-year contract extension.

Financial terms weren't released by the team, but multiple reports said Brodie will be paid an average of $4.65 million US annually.

Brodie is in the final year of a two-year deal signed in 2013 which pays him an average annual salary of $2.1 million.

Brodie, 24, has three goals and four assists in seven games this season, helping the Flames to a 4-3-0 record. Six of those games were played on the road.

A fourth-round pick of Calgary's in the 2008 draft, Brodie had 31 points (four goals) in 81 games last season.
